Rich Wilde and the Wandering City
Well, it’s nice to bump into Rich again don’t you think? Top bloke.
This release follows the intrepid treasure hunter Rich Wilde in another adventure in his khaki pants to find ancient lost treasures. The Wandering City is a reference to the mythological City of the Caesars, said to be located in Patagonia; this lost city is rumoured to hold great riches.
Despite no solid evidence of the Wandering City’s existence it is supposedly flanked by mountains of gold and diamond, a perfect location for Rich Wilde and wombats to visit.
Play’n GO (the team behind the Kiss Reels of Rock slot and other classics) have chosen to age their leading male explorer with a trimmed beard and dark grey strands in his signature black hair. Will Rich be able to locate this ancient treasure with the help of a brave Wombat? I hope so, otherwise we are going to need to start buying some Grecian 2000 hair colour lotion.
Look and Feel
Behind the 5-reel slot grid are the ruins of the ancient city including 2 huge statues brandishing spears carved out of rock and gold. The snow-peaked mountain tops and cold gusts of wind beneath the night sky explain the winter coat donned by the Rich Wilde symbol in this release. It’s parky out there wombat fans. Well. it’s not as cold as it is in the Arctic Enchantress slot but that’s another story.
Other symbols used in the Wandering City include the lower value 9 – A card symbols carved in stone behind different coloured decorative markings. It looks pretty as a picture.
The higher value symbols will reward with payouts for combinations of between 2 and 5 across the 243 pay-lines. More of a standard set up than something like True Grit Redemption from Nolimit City in other words.
These include 3 golden artefacts: a spear head, a tribesman statue and a crown on the head of a grinning skull as well as Rich WIlde himself and the highest value Diamond symbol. The Rich Wilde and Diamond symbols pay out up to 4x the stake, the highest base game payout, but bonus features are available throughout bringing greater win potential.
In keeping with previous releases, Rich Wilde and the Wandering City looks great and has an interesting story- it’s an all round great slot release.
The intro is good fun. Rich on his boat traveeling to Patagonia. Rich looking through his binoculars. You won’t find any ladies in bikinis on those beaches Rich, it’s too cold!
All of the play buttons are beneath the play grid inside a stone border carved with interesting looking shapes and markings, similar to the frame of the reels.
To the left you can view their balance clearly. Hit that ‘information’ button for more info on the symbols, pay-lines and bonus features. Rich’ll guide you through it, no worries there.
Above the reels, the slots title is emblazened in golden text with the Diamond symbol highlighted, underlining its importance in the game.
Rich Wilde and the Wandering City Game Play
The main difference between this release and the earlier Rich Wilde games are the number of pay-lines, we’ve shot up to 243 Ways to Win: an exciting change by Play’n GO..
Other Rich Wilde slots have only 10 paylines. The RTP is similar to the other games (such as Rich Wilde and the Amulet of Dead), so more paylines do not guarantee higher wins overall.
The Wandering City slot has a maximum win of 10,000x your stake.
Bonus Features
The Diamond symbol in Rich Wilde and the Wandering City is the Wild, Scatter and highest value symbol making it the star of the reels here. As a Wild symbol it will substitute for other game symbols and complete winning combinations when needed.
As well as being the Wild, the Diamond is also this slot’s Scatter. You will trigger the Free Spins bonus feature when you land between 3 and 5 in a single spin. This rewards with 10 Free Spins along with an initial payout worth 0.8x, 1.6x or 4x the stake of the triggering spin.
Before you make use of the 10 Free Spins, a symbol is chosen at random and this symbol remains the expanding special symbol throughout the feature. This can be a high or low value symbol and will expand to cover the entire reel.
Even better news is that this feature can be re-triggered when 3 more Diamond Scatters land giving you a further 10 Free Spins. You can pull this little trick up to 5 times.
Throughout play of the main and bonus game players can activate a 2x multiplier on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th reels. If more than 1 multiplier is in play these can be added together to create higher wins.
Conclusion
As I said at the beginning, he’s a top bloke Riche, and the Wandering City slot should whet your appetite for adventure: we think this is one of the best in the Rich Wilde series.
The choice of a single symbol as the Wild and Scatter keeps game play simple and the Free Spins bonus round is solid. The game looks great and the higher number of pay-lines means that winning combinations have the potential to come thick and fast during play here. Careful though, it’s pretty volatile.
Wombat Score: 4/5

Wha are the main features of this slot? What things set it apart?
We’d boil it down to the following: the wild and scatter are the same symbol. There is a x2 multiplier above the middle 3 reels that can kick off at random. And there is an expanding symbol feature in the free spins. A pretty solid combination.
