Graphics
What mess with a winning formula? Yes, the graphics are slicker on this newer game, but the game fits like an old glove. The symbols, reels, and background are crisper and brighter, with the greens and golds fairly “zinging out” on desktop and mobile displays. An upbeat catchy Irish tune music plays in the background as you spin the reels.
The one and only wild symbol is depicted by a golden coin. It will substitute for any of the regular symbols, but not the bonus symbols in the traditional fashion.
Gameplay
The scene is set on a gold-lined five-reel and three-row grid. There is a minimum bet of 0.20 and a maximum bet of 500.00, with betting rangine from 0.01 to 25 per line. A minimum of three matching symbols on a winning pay-line triggers a pay-out.
12 symbols feature across the reels. The six regular symbols are the Rainbow Riches logo, Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. You can earn up to x500 your line bet with five Rainbow Riches logo symbols.
Bonus Features
Where this game differs from the original game is in the rich features department. When you first fire up the game, you will be asked to select up to three of five available features. You can select just one as a favourite if you like, and this will trigger more often. Each time a bonus round triggers, you will play those feature(s). You can re-select which features you want active after every spin.
Road to Riches
The Leprechaun will spin the wheel to see how many places up the winding yellow path you walk, earning prizes as you go. If you reach the top, you win x500. You will be familiar with this one if you have played the original game.
Pots of Gold
If you hit this feature, gold, silver, and bronze pots, spin around the reels with values attached. When it stops, you win the value of your pot, and again a maximum win of x500 is possible.
Cash Crop Bonus
The Cash Crop Bonus is activated when three or more Cash Crop symbols appear. A 50×50 grid appears and spins to reveal either a blank square or a multiplier.
Each coin with a multiplier on it is added to the total. Next, the amount you win is multiplied by the triggering stake. Finally, a coin is spinning between the “Go On” and “Collect” sides. If “Go On” appears, the game will proceed, but if “Collect” appears, the bonus round will end.
Magic Toadstools
There are always a couple of toadstools around when there are leprechauns about.
Three or four toadstools unlock the Magic Toadstool bonus. Five toadstool symbols in a pay-line activate a x500 total bet multiplier immediately. The bonus, triggered with 3 or 4, wins you three picks from 24 toadstools.
Toadstools conceal cash or a fairy. Find a Fairy and you will get three more picks. After picking all the toadstools, you will also receive a multiplier.
