If you have a sweet tooth like me, then this game has your name written all over it! The Dropz slot from ELK Studios is another one of those “Candy” games with lollipops, chocolate and doughnuts in the background with candy and fruit on the reels.

This ELK Studios game is played on a 6×6 grid (this can expand) with Avalanche Wins, Wilds to unlock, ReDropz and Level Up symbols plus a Pair Matching meter with multipliers waiting to trigger. This is no traditional 5 reeler like Triple Edge Studio’s 9 Mad Hats slot And it’s all played out on a pretty upbeat, funky soundtrack.

The maximum jackpot is a hefty 25,000x your stake (5x as big as even the Boat Bonanza slot) on this medium to high game which has up to 262,144 Ways to Win. Elk launched this game in October 2022.

Look and Feel

Bright pastel shades and sugar coated treats are the name of the game here. This is an unashamedly upbeat slot in the same vein as the Superstars slot from NetEnt. It’s bright in other words!

Look out for liquorice 7s, strawberries, apples and sweets appearing in the background to get your juices flowing. There’s plenty of chocolate on the reels if you were thinking that this game had too much fruit in it. I guess they are going for a balanced diet.

The sweets as the lower-paying symbols. The higher-payers are the lemons, grapes, apples, strawberries, and pink liquorice 7s. These 7s are to top payes 2x, 5x, 15x or 50x your stake for 3, 4, 5 or 6.

Dropz Slot Game Play

Like many slots from ELK Studios, there’s a lot going on here and that can start to feel like sensory overload. But once you get used to the different features, that calms down a bit (or you become immune to the activity).

Most of the action centres around 5 bonus features.

Avalanche Feature

You’ll have sen this feature before on other slots, we are sure. Every win combo will explode, except for Locked Wilds. Fresh symbols drop down into the gaps so that you can score sequential wins.

These bursts go hand in hand with the chocolate on the grid which acts as a block. It may reveal a symbol when the chocolate is blown up by an explosion next to it.

You will either see an empty position or it will reveal a new symbol. Avalanches and chocolate explosions continue until you hit a dead end on the wins

Pair Matching Multiplier

At the top of Dropz, you will see a Pair Matching section with two symbols of the same colour. There is a rewarding multiplier and a Win Multiplier next to it.

So say you have a red candy and a strawberry up there. Every time you get a red candy and strawberry next to each other on the grid, they pair off and head into the meter. The avalanche kicks off with explosions around the winning symbols. When you manage to fill up the Pair Matching meter, the rewarding multiplier is to the Win Multiplier. You will see a new pair of matching symbols and rewarding multiplier when the current one is full.

The Win Multiplier is noted before any win and is applied in the same go and for all Avalanche Wins on that turn.

Look out for the the ReDropz symbol and the Locked Wild symbol.

The ReDropz symbol will add 1-2 additional drops to your game (both in standard play and bonus play).

Level Upgrades

You start at Level 1 (naturally). You can progress to Level 2 and further by bringing the Level Up symbol into play. As you head up the levels, the grid size and Ways to Win increase.

Level 1: 3 active rows and 3 rows blocked by chocolate.
Level 2: 3 rows in play and 4 rows blocked by chocolate.
Level 3: 3 rows in play and 5 rows blocked by chocolate.
If you have accumulated Bonus symbols and Multipliers, they are carried through to the next level and the Pair Matching meter keeps its score.

Free Dropz Bonus

If you land 3 Bonus symbols in the base game, you will set off the Free Dropz. 8 rows are active, with 5  chocolate rows at the start.

You will get 5 Free ReDropz. You may see some new features in the chocolate. There are no Level Upgrades as you are already at the maximum configuration.

X-iter Bonus

The X-iter feature is not available in all jurisdictions (eg the UK) as this is essentially a Buy Feature.

Pick from 5 modes (2x to 500 x your stake):

– Bonus Hunt (2x bet cost): Buy extra bonus symbols, doubling the odds of landing Free Dropz.
– Feature Crescendo (10x bet cost):  Buy Pink 7 symbols on the grid or other features
– Feature Wilds (25x bet cost) – Buy in for 3 Locked Wilds
– Buy Bonus (100x cost). Buy a ticket into the Free Dropz bonus
– Super Bonus (500x bet). Buy a ticket into Free Dropzs, but this time with the Win Multiplier starting at 10x

Summary

There’s a lot going on in the Dropz slot from ELK and it can take a while to get your head around all of the features, especially if you have a fuzzy wombat brain like mine. However, the flip side is that this is a highly entertaining game.

The RTP is pretty low though. That is compensated somewhat by the 25,000x jackpot. Just bear that in mind when you are dropping the sweets and fruit in.

ELK Studios have done a good job here- a fine addition to their portfolio. One for the chocolate lovers out there!
