Slot games have been released in many different shapes and sizes, but you’ll be taken in a new direction with the Direct Hit slot (featuring Money Zone). This game has some great unique features. The guy with the spiky green hair who stands to the left is a bit weird though, let´s be honest. He’ll give you a salute every now and then if you land a win.
The game’s maximum payout is 2,331x your stake. That’s not as high as Gold Collector Diamond Edition, but the wins are relatively frequent. The Cascading reels feature keepd the action bubbling: you get multiple chances at landing winning combinations plus opportunities to collect Gems.
Direct Hit Slot Design
This game was developed by SG Digital, one of the larger iGaming companies who have released some popular slots in recent years.
The slot is vibrant, with bright symbols and background on a reel set that is a deep shade of Blue. Behind the reels, you’ll see cartoon rolling hills and a few green trees. The game’s animated character stands to the left.
The reels are laid out in a 7×7 formation, and instead of using paylines like the ten you will see on Crystal Furnace from Eyecon, this game uses a Cluster Pays format to decide which symbols are included in a winner. The symbols in this game include a grenade, a compass, a pink rabbit rocket launcher, a medical kit box, a radio walky-talky and a cross-bow. I’m still trying to work out the theme. Is it survivalist? Or Ibiza night club military night? I’m not sure. Let’s drop in some symbols and see where it goes.
There is also a Wild symbol, which can appear randomly on your reel and appears specifically when one of the Crates falls onto your reels. This symbol can take the place of any other symbol except a Gem.
Direct Hit Slot Gameplay
The game works pretty well. The action clips along nicely, although that electronic background music can start to grate after a while.
Before spinning the reels, adjust your stake amount to control how much you are betting on each spin.
Direct Hit Bonus Features
The Money Zone is the key feature in this game. It is a variable (2×2 up to 6×6) grid that moves around your reels on every spin and cascade and is your entrance into the bonus round. If one of the falling Red or Blue crates lands inside your Money Zone, a few random symbols will become Wild, and you will collect the gem of the crate’s colour.
It’s quite a step up form traditional games like Reel King Mega from Red Tiger.
The actual bonus feature comes from collecting these gems, and there is a bonus for both the Red and Blue gems. You must collect three gems in total to set off the free spins.
2 or more Blue Gems trigger the Blue Super Spin in which each symbol has a number value which shows how many of them are stacked in that position. This, in turn, adds value to any combinations that include these stacked symbols.
2 or more Red Gems trigger the Red Free Spins, which gives you three free spins in which symbols within the Money Zone are turned into wilds during each spin or cascade.
Direct Hit Summary
This game has two bonus features and a decent base game that keeps the gaming experience entertaining. I get the feeling that SG Digital were trying too hard with this game though. I can´t quite put my finger on it. Give it whirl and see for yourself.
