Rich Wilde & the Amulet of Dead
What’s The Deal?
Rich Wilde returns! To be honest we thought we’d seen the last of him what with his daughter Cat taking the mantle – but no, our chiselled-jawed hero is back in Rich Wilde and the Amulet of Dead slot.
It comes with a brand spanking new wild feature that can add a x5 multiplier onto wild wins – plus the usual special transforming icons…
Graphics and Theme
Play’n GO transports you to Ancient Egypt once again, but this time you’ll meet with Thoth, the god of wisdom who also judges the dead (the creepy fella).
The reels are set against the backdrop of the rock carvings at Abu Simbel and the reels themselves are framed in the standard gold and blue ‘Book Of’ style.
All-in-all the design is very similar to the previous instalments – but that’s no bad thing.
Pay Table
What about the reel icons, then? Well, the high value symbols are represented by Rich Wilde (as always), King Tut’s golden mask, Anubis and Bastet. The playing cards 10, J, Q, K and A will make up the lower values on the pay-table.
The Eye of Ra amulet symbol acts as both the wild icon and the scatter symbol and there’s another cheeky little wild in play that is bird-headed Thoth himself – but more on this below.
Rich Wilde and the Amulet of Dead Slot Game Play
Rich Wilde And The Amulet Of Dead slot has 5 reels, 3 rows and 10 pay-lines and you can spin from 0.10 to 100.00 per go. That’s half as many lines as games like the Silver Seas slot machine which should give you an idea of how this plays.
Variance wise, Amulet of The Dead isn’t as high as some of the other Play’n GO Egyptian slots. They give it a 7/10 themselves which makes this a medium-high volatile release. Just like the Temple of Medusa slot in other words which is another game that is worth a spin.
The highest possible payout on offer is 2500x your bet, which is also considerably lower than we’ve seen from Rich Wide before. It’s not in the same league as the East Coast vs West Coast slot in that regard, but remember- that is a very highly volatile game. This game is still pretty volatile, mind you.
Bonus Features
Thoth Wild Multipliers
The Thoth wild icons will hit reels two, three and four only. When they land they will expand across all rows and add a multiplier onto any wins that are made:
1 stacked Thoth wild: 2x multiplier
2 stacked Thoth wilds: 3x multiplier
3 stacked Thoth wilds: 5x multiplier
This is a new base game feature, and it’s a cracker.
Free Spins
Hit 3x of the Eye of Ra amulet scatters on the reels and you’ll be awarded 10 Free Spins.
But before the spins kick off, a symbol will be picked at random to expand whenever it lands. These Special symbols don’t need to land on adjacent reels to make a win – making it much easiest to to scoop those combos.
Gamble Feature
We haven’t come across one of these in a while, and this Wombat does like to up the slot ante from time-to-time!
You can double any win you’ve made by guessing correctly the colour of the next card drawn. Or quadruple it if you predict the right suit.
But play carefully slot lovers: You could lose the lot if you get it wrong.
Conclusion:
Rich Wilde & the Amulet of Dead slot is a nice all rounder.
With some solid graphics and the Thoth Wild bonus you’ll like this game if you’re a fan of the other Rich Wilde releases. The rest of you might find it’s lacking a bit in innovative game play…
Wombat score: 4/5

How does the Maths model stack up in Rich Wilde & the Amulet of Dead?
Well, Wombat Fans, although volatility is high, it is less volatile than the original Book of Dead and this is reflecting in a lower max win that’s capped at 2500x your bet. The Thoth Wilds big in smaller more frequent wins which balances things out, too.
